August 2014

Secretary's Scribble
The good weather has not lasted we have had partially wet events of late both at Rendham and Long Melford. Although at Melford the Club did take home some tin ware in that we were awarded both pre and post war best cars.
Last months meeting at Buxhall Bygones was very enjoyable and nostalgic once we got there - a bit off the beaten track!! A very enjoyable slice of cake a cuppa too!
August is our meal out month and we shall be at the Wooden Fender at Ardleigh, Essex, meal order forms were in last months Newsletter.
This is also the month of our Annual Rally on Sunday 3rd and we need lots of help with marshalling both the display cars and the Concourse Runs. Also bucket shaking to raise funds for the Children's Hospices

The Photo Pictorial evening last month was a quiz with a difference, an observational quiz you might say, clips of film with a sheet of questions to be answered about the clips, but you had to be fast!
Secretary goes on a visit to P&A Woods the renowned Rolls Royce Dealers in Essex and has a very interesting day out.

Last month's meeting, the talk "Wheels of Ipswich" by Brian Dyes from the Ipswich Transport Museum was really good and we had a very good turn out.
Coming up we have our Chairman's Photo Pictorial Recognition Evening, what that is we will have to wait and see!
April is our Mini Auction so dig out some lots to enter in that, they don't have to be car related, anything goes!!
May is our Spring Supper, order form enclosed for that. Its all go!
The Rendlesham Coach trip is on and details are on page 7.
This month we have another episode in the life of running a Ford Popular. I am really enjoying this series, John has a quaint way with words.

March 2014 Newsletter Notes

Secretary's Scribble
Last months meeting the talk by member Rod Satchwell was very interesting and very well attended. Rod brought out a lot of facts & data linking motoring and aviation in the early days,  some of which I had forgotten, some I never knew but all very interesting.
February's talk, "Wheels of Ipswich" promises to be another good one. Given by Brian Dyes of Ipswich Transport Museum, it is the story of the role transport played in the development of the Town over the last few hundred years.
And for our March meeting we have our Chairman giving his Photo, Pictorial Recognition Evening.. Now exactly what this involves I have no idea because he's not letting on! All I know is that he wants the digital projector and screen. So come along and see what its all about.
One member at least has tried our new advertiser mentioned last month and was very pleased with the service, so you know where to go for your parts.

February 2014 Newsletter Notes

Secretary's Scribble
Event organisers are busy getting things underway for 2014 and we are no different. Our Programme is arranged and our multi-Entry Form is enclosed with this Newsletter allowing you to enter for 20 + events on one form! How good is that!
Also enclosed is the Helmingham Festival of Sports & Classic Cars event on August 3rd entry form, and entry is free if you are an S.V.E.C. member.
The Christmas party went well with a superb meal supplied by the RHYC and sweets by our sandwich ladies, all very nice.
Please note. Motormania of Woodbridge Road, Ipswich is no more. They did not renew their advert with us this year and when I drove past the premises a few weeks ago the place was empty. We have a new advertiser to take their place, Eastern Auto Spares, Queens Way, Ipswich who sell a similar range of spares etc to Motormania if not better, so please give them your custom, and remember to show your current membership card top get 10% discount and let them know you are from S.V.E.C. This makes it easier for me when its time to sell the ads next year.
