Secretary's Scribble
WE have learnt that the Clone Valley Railway where we were on 19th April has to vacate the land by the end of the year, a big jog with all that kit even if they do find a piece of land big enough. I don't envy them the task of moving.
We have had our own problems with our web site in that the person who looked after it at a modest cost has been told by their accountant to wind up the computer side of the business. We were put onto another chap but costs were many times what we were paying. However after an appeal at a Club meeting one of the members was confident that he could run things for us. And so it has worked out and we are indebted to this member.
Last month's talk Since records Began by Bill Clark took us through sound recording from wax cylinders right through to CD's with demonstrations of the sounds and visual projections to complement them. A really interesting and enjoyable evening.
A few more event have been added under "Other Events" - make your own arrangements

Well into March and preparing for the coming season with our first event at the Colne Valley Railway on the 19th April just around the corner. And then they follow on thick and fast!!
Just a not about keeping us informed if you have entered for an event and then find you cannot attend.
Details of a new event along the Ipswich Waterfront on July 19th, could be the start of something new!
Last month's meeting we had the return of an old favourite "The Feelie Bags" where small everyday motoring items are put in a cloth bag and you have to guess what they are by
feel. There was one bag with domestic items in to keep the ladies happy!! Very entertaining.
This month we have our Mini Auction where anything can be entered and lot forms were enclosed with the Newsletter. As usual grubby items must be protected, we don't want any cleaning bills from the RHYC!!
The May Supper will have a World War II theme as it is the 70th Anniversary of the end of the war this year. At our party
20 years ago to celebrate the 50th Anniversary, we had
some 80 people attend and only a handful were not dressed in period costume of some sort. Can we do it again??

Last Newsletter of 2014! Not a bad year overall! Some heavy rain which caused problems but it could have been worse.
The Hurricane Run was brilliant! Well organised, I thought we were going to be rushing from here to there but it all worked very well with plenty of time to get from car to train to boat and back to train and car with meals slotted unhurriedly in-between. Mind you a long day starting at 9am from the meeting point and arriving home at gone 7.30 pm and it only rained in the last 10 minutes, damm!
Good news, the annual subs to stay at £14!!
The picture quiz last month, loads of answers, well two actually and both right.
Coming up, AGM, Christmas Social, 2015.

The Annual Dinner on 22nd November went extremely well, the best we have had. We have booked here again for next year!
Superb draw proceeds to go to EACH.
Reminder that Secretary has been in post 25 years and that the December 2014 Newsletter was his 300 edition. Considering that he took over on a temporary basis in 1989 when the duly elected Secretary failed to show for two months and was never seen again, that's not a bad record!
2015 programme now on page 8 of the Newsletter, some 28 events to get involved in and that's just the ones we are making the arrangements for it doesn't include any that members make their own arrangements for.

November 2014
Secretary's Scribble
Only the Hurricane Run left in the Programme of Events.
Editor went on a trip to Buckingham Palace and on the way passed the Tower of London and saw the remembrance poppies in the moat, very moving and impressive sight and had to put a picture of this on the front cover of the November issue of the Newsletter.
On the same theme we have to report the passing of three members in this issue as well.
September's Club night, A Photographic Pot -Pouri went off very well. October we have a talk about the 94th Bomb Group at Rougham Airfield in world was two. November is our AGM and the Agenda for this is included in the Newsletter. There are vacancies on the Committee so don't be shy in coming forward and having a go.
The Christmas Social is on 11th December and a chit is enclosed for you to book your place.

Stonham Barns was acracker of a show with probably 600 plus vehicles on show. We had a showe or wto yes, but not as bad as last month. Then Lavenham Rare Breeds, started out dry but was raining by the time we got there and did not let up all day. About 40% of normal turnout, a great shame for the organisers as this is normally a very good show. We had 23 out of 51 turn up. It was all but over by 3.30 pm.
Our August meal at the Wooden fender was very nice but not as well attended as usual, probably due to the fact that the price had gone up a fair bit.
Saturday 30th August we were at Cavendish Fete, a real country event (but rivalled this year by Rendham back in July) with everyone from the village joining in, and they got the weather right!

Heavy storm at Flixton meant we had to leave the site via 9" of flood water, other than that a good day. Tornado at Mildenhall Rally! means not very well supported and event curtailed early! Our visit to the Suffolk Aviation Heritage Museum was very interesting and well attended.
The main event of the month was the Helmingham Festival of Classic & Sports Cars at Helmingham Hall. We had excellent weather and the exhibitors and the public rolled in. Two sessions of Concourse Runs were held down the main drive and the crowd thrilled to see the cars in action. In excess of 800 cars were on display on site together with craft and trade stalls, bands and music groups, birds of prey demonstrations and other entertainments. Plus all the usual refreshments etc. A really good day and we are hopeful that we have raised in excess of £4,000 for the East Anglia's Children's Hospice's. We shall see.
