Secretary's Scribble

The presentation of the proceeds from the helmingham Festival of Clasic & Sports Cars took place at helmingham on Friday 30th September when we gave the Ipswich Children's Hospice a cheque for £3,500, not bad considering the finacial climate!

Tom Tyler's talk last month on When Holidays Were Fun went down a treat. Tom has a certain way of putting these thing across. I thought one of our members was going to have a fit he was laughing so much!

The episode Tales from the Motor trade in this editon stays a bit as he talks more about shipping and the liners at Southampton which is a bit coincidental as I have just come back from a cruise on one of these large ships!!

Report on our Annual Rally at Helmingham Hall which is combined with the Helmingham Festival Of Classic & Sports Cars. The weather was good if a little brezzy, well it was untill about 3.30 pm when we had quite a large shower which had the effect of nearly clearing the showground of the general public, pity. Other than that the day went really well with a good crowd supporting the event and around 600 classic and sports cars for the fans to look at and of course to watch the selected 40 or so drive the Concourse in both the morning and afternoon sessions, always very popular with the crowd. Plenty of other events for the family, samba band, Birds of prey, Jazz band, stalls of all descriptions etc and of course plenty to eat and drink. A really good day out.

The following weekend saw the pre 1940's cars at Felixstowe Museum where they had a good turn out and an enjoyable day.

September sees us back at the Royal Harwich Yacht Club for a Talk by one of our members.

Visit to the Felixstowe Museum was very enjoyable, a lot has changed since we were last there and very much for the better!

Ufford Bygones on 17th July was very well organised but we did get a couple of showers! On the bright side we picked up a few new members!

Cressing Temple Barns was well attended and a good day out.

Conversly Easton Farm Park was a bit of a flop with nothinf to support the cars that attended.

The Mid Suffolk Showground Car Show was well attened and organised with plenty to do and see, several cars I had not seen before.
